Downtown Orlando Movie Theater News!
On MONDAY, DECEMBER 15th Orlando's City Council will have the fate of the Plaza in its hands. On the agenda is the Community Redevelopment Agency presentation to complete the first Downtown Orlando Movie Theater, introducing a one-of-a-kind, entertainment destination.
The city is committed to making this project a success, but need your help to show City Council that a Downtown Movie Theater is good for business! It is estimated that the Plaza Theater will attract approximately 600,000 people to downtown Orlando each year. The indirect spending and jobs which flow from these visitors is significant if one used an extremely conservative estimate of $20.00 per patron in spending related to their theater visit (beyond ticket price), the economic impact would be $12 million annually. This could result in the infusion of millions of dollars to other businesses in downtown Orlando.
The Plaza Theater will help to further define the downtown area and connect people to the heart of the city. And it is not just what programming that goes on inside the theaters that makes an impact; in an urban setting, you have to also look outside the perimeters of the theater. The Plaza courtyard can become the grand lobby of the heart and soul of the city marketplace. Out of those interactions, other things happen - New restaurants and shops will open. And new partnerships -- educational, cultural or residential -- can start to bloom.
WHEN: Monday, December 15th, at 2:00 P.M.
WHERE: Council Chambers on the 2nd floor of City Hall, 400 South Orange Avenue
We look forward to seeing you there!
